Obituary of Margaret Janesko Kalata Ovitsky

Mount Pleasant, Margaret Janesko Kalata Ovitsky, age 91 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Wednesday (12/11/13) in Harmon House Convalescent Center, Mount Pleasant, PA. Mrs. Ovitsky was born May 19, 1922 in Central, PA, the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Kuper Janesko. She was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church and the Transfiguration Holy Rosary Society. Margaret was also a member of the American Legion Post 446 Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her loving family: her children; Dr. Thomas J. Kalata and his wife Linda of Latrobe, Linda Ovitsky of Melbourne, FL and Karen Govern and her husband Richard of Mt. Pleasant, her beloved grandchildren; Brian Kalata and Renee of Canton, GA, Carrie Ann Scott of Arlington, VA, and Richard Govern and Jennifer of Huntersville, NC, her great grandchildren, Ashley and Emily Kalata, Landon Scott, and Gwen, Norah and Juliette Govern. She is also survived by her sister Helen Kelly of Baggaley and by her brother in law and sister in law, Joseph Ovitsky of Mt. Pleasant and Mary Kalata of Hecla, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her first husband, Stephen Kalata who died during WWII in 1944, and her second husband, Edward Ovitsky in 2005, and her brothers and sisters, Peter and Michael Janesko, Ann Kish, Veronica Queer, Mary Pugliese, Pauline Schultheis, Elizabeth Winiarski, and Agnes McClain. Family and friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Saturday at 12:30PM in the funeral home followed by her Funeral Mass at 1:00 PM in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in the Visitation Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 3PM. The Transfiguration Holy RosarySociety will recite the rosary at 6PM Friday.
