Obituary of Ray E. Hoke

Mount Pleasant, PA. Ray E. Hoke, 86 of Mount Pleasant, PA died Thursday 11/21/2013 at his home, with his loving family at his side. Mr. Hoke was born April 2, 1927 in Mount Pleasant Township, a son of the late Samuel and Pearl Zufall Hoke. He was a member of the United Church of Christ. Ray was a graduate of the former Ramsay High School. He then enlisted in the Merchant Marines and was discharged from the Coast Guard. Ray was also a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army "Blue Devils" division stationed in Goristiai, Italy. Ray retired from Brown Boveri, Inc of Greensburg with over 34 years of service. He was a lifelong resident of Mount Pleasant. Ray was a member of the VFW Post 3368 of Mt. Pleasant, the Slovak Sportsmens Club of Hecla, and the Ligonier Lodge #331, F&AM. Ray was an avid sprotsman, who especially enjoyed fishing and hunting with his friends. Ray is survived by his loving family: his wife of 63 years, Mary Sue Dolan Hoke, his daughters; Debra Newill and her husband William of Keckbsurg, Susan Pelar and her husband Peter of Catonsville, MD, and Sheryl Keslar and her husband Barry of Acme, his seven grandchildren, Karen and David Newill, Matthew (Jenn) and Christopher (Lindsay) Pelar, Brandon (Alicia), Kaitlin, and Nathan Keslar, and his six great grandchildren, Emma and Lyla Pelar, and Corey, Cassandra, Alexa and Breanna Keslar. Ray is also survived by his sister-in-law, Donna Hoke and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Ray was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Christina Keslar, his sister, Iona Jones Porch, his brothers, Samuel and James Hoke. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 1 unitl 3PM for a remembrance gathering, at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant , PA.
