Obituary of Richard J. Haughney

Erie, PA Richard J. Haughney Richard J. Haughney, of Erie, died Monday, November 4, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Haughney was born September 17, 1921 in Erie, PA, the son of the late Charles and Winifred Sweeney Haughney. He was a long time member of Blessed Sacrament Church, in Erie where he sang in the choir and also was a choir member at St. Ann Church. Richard worked as an accountant for 42 years at the LORD Corporation and retired as the treasurer there. He was a member of the Erie Maennerchor Club. Richard loved to travel, and was an avid sports fan, who especially enjoyed baseball. He is survived by his loving family: his wife, Mary Harvey McMahon Haughney; his sons, Richard G. Haughney and his wife Anna, John F. Haughney, and James P. Haughney, all of Erie; his daughters, Kathryn Krystyniak and her husband Mark of Mount Pleasant and Mary Haughney and her Fianc, Bill Reitinger, of Erie, his brother, Lewis Haughney and his wife Helene, of San Carlos, CA, and by his 8 grandsons, 4 stepsons, 5 step daughters and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy A. Applebee Haughney in1991, a daughter, Susan E. Haughney, in 2008, and three brothers, Raphael Haughney, Charles Haughney, and Joseph Haughney. Family and friends were received Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street, Erie, PA. His Funeral Mass was celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church, Saturday, November 9, 2013. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Erie, PA. The family suggests memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice, in Memory of Richard J. Haughney.
