Obituary of William D. Levinson

Mount Pleasant, Dr. William D. Levinson, age 93 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Thursday (10/31/13) in the Excela Health- Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, PA. Dr. Levinson was born May 10, 1920 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Louis and Jennie Glick Levinson. He was a graduate of the former Ramsay High School, Saint Vincent College, in 1942 and Jefferson Medical College in 1945. He served in the United States Army during WWII in the Medical Corps. Dr. Levinson opened his medical practice in 1949 on Main Street while living above the office with his family. He served the Mount Pleasant Area for over 41 years, working 7 days a week, taking only 11 sick days during his working life and delivering over 3,000 babies. He was a member of the Westmoreland Medical Society, Pennsylvania Medical Society and the American Medical Society for over 60 years, and a Mason for 43 years. Dr. Levinson received the Mount Pleasant Citizen of the Month Award for his service to the community. Dr. Levinson loved Mount Pleasant. In his words "Mt. Pleasant is a warm, friendly town. I can't imagine living anywhere else". He will be remembered as a family doctor, who was always there for his thousands of patients. Dr. Levinson: May God Bless you and protect you. May He look over you and be gracious to you. May He favor you and grant you peace. Amen. Dr. Levinson is survived by his loving family: his wife of 65 years, Arlene S. Finesman Levinson, his beloved children: Linda E. Levinson McNally and her husband James of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Diane S. Levinson McLane of Tucson, AZ, Mark E. Levinson, M.D. and his wife Lisa of Winchester, VA, and his adoring grandchildren; Leah McNally-Hall, M.D., and her husband Philip, M.D. Brittany McLane, Carter Levinson and Rachel Levinson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters; Samuel Levinson, Dr. Eli Levinson, Isadore Levinson, Gertrude Klee, Betty Vogel, Belle Finkelstein, and Florence Frey. A private graveside Interment will be held Friday in the New Light Cemetery,ShalerTownship, with Rabbi John Pearlman, officiating. The family suggests memorials may be made to a Charity of one's choice, in Memory of Dr. William D. Levinson.
