Obituary of Kathleen Marie DeFlitch

Kathleen "Kathy" M. Dean DeFlitch, 62, of Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at her home. She was born September 28, 1947, a daughter of the late Samuel P. and Irene C. Dean. Kathy expressed her boundless love through her devotion and dedication to her family and grandchildren, who were her greatest joy. Over the course of many years, she was a brightly shining example of transforming faith into service as an integral member of the "Kitchen Crew" Community at St. Pius X Parish in Mount Pleasant. Her warm smile and kind spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Christopher, of Mount Pleasant, and by her children: Dr. Christopher DeFlitch and his wife Tina of Hummelstown, PA, Stephen DeFlitch and his wife Susan of Pittsburgh, Douglas DeFlitch and fiance Misty Piell of Fresno, CA, and Lynnette Planey and her husband Eric of New Stanton. She will be greatly missed by her Grandchildren: Christopher, Owen, Sophie, Leah, Max, Tyler Nathan, Madalyn and Iggy. Kathy is also survived by her sister-in-law Kathy Martz of Mount Pleasant, and Brothers-in-law Jerry DeFlitch of Mount Pleasant and Michael DeFlitch of North Huntingdon, and by her brother, Samuel Dean. Family and friends will be received Saturday from 6 until 9 PM and Sunday from Noon until 4 and 6 to 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant, PA. A Blessing Service will be held Monday at 9:30 AM followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Pius X Parish Cemetery. A Parish Wake Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Sunday at 3PM. The family suggests memorials may be made to St. Pius X Parish in memory of Kathleen DeFlitch. A special "Thanks" to Dr. John Wass and his staff at the UPMC Cancer Center in Greensburg for the exceptional care and comfort that they provided during this difficult time.
