Obituary of Dora Bischoff Kantorik

Scottdale, Dora Bischoff Kantorik, age 100 of Scottdale, PA, formerly of Mount Pleasant, died Saturday (6/08/13) in Woodcrest Senior Living Center, Scottdale, PA. Mrs. Kantorik was born March 29, 1913 in Ulm, Germany, the daughter of the late Eugene and Katherine Joos Bischoff. She was a longtime member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Mount Pleasant. Dora and her Mother and siblings arrived at Ellis Island in 1924 to join her Father who had come to America the year before. They settled in Mount Pleasant where Dora graduated in1932 from the former Ramsay High School. In 1937 she married Edward H. Kantorik. Dora was a very religious person. She sang in Church choirs and taught Sunday school. Because of her husband's work, she served Churches in Mount Pleasant, Gary, WV, Uniontown and Pittsburgh. After Edward's retirement, they returned to Mount Pleasant where she spent her time visiting shut-ins, and became a familiar face at the former Frick Hospital where she volunteered for many years. She was a lovely lady, who celebrated her 100th Birthday in March of this year with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Dora is survived by her loving family: her daughter, Jean Cooper of Kinnelon, NJ and her grandson Rick Cooper and his wife Meg of Virginia Beach, VA. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward H. Kantorik in 1983, and by her sister and brothers; Marie Hacker, Eugene, Max and George Bischoff. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Funeral Services for Dora will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Main Street, Mount Pleasant, with her Pastor, the Rev. Karen C. Thompson officiating. Anyone wishing to attend funeral services is asked to go directly to the church. Interment will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
