Obituary of Gloria Harkins Christie

Mount Pleasant, Gloria Harkins Christie, age 90 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Monday (4/29/13) in UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. Mrs. Christie was born September 26, 1922 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the daughter of the late Lewis and Zella Green Harkins. She was a member of the Reunion Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant. Gloria was a graduate of the former Ramsay High School, and attended Wilson College. She had a beautiful voice and was a member of the Mariner Choir, and also belonged to the Woman's Club of Mt. Pleasant. Gloria was a great cook, and a gifted baker, who especially enjoyed baking for weddings. She was a loving mother who was dedicated to her family; was always positive, pleasant, and kind, a wonderful listener, and had the gift of always knowing just the right words to say. Her kindness and her radiant smile will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Gloria is survived by her loving family: her daughters, Karen J. Christie, and Judy Tucci and her husband Mark, all of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Christie in 1989, her son, Timothy A. Christie in 2000, and by her sister, Josephine Baumann, and her brothers, John and Lewis Harkins. Family and friends will be received Friday from 3 until 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home , 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Funeral Services for Gloria will be held Saturday at 1:30 PM in the funeral home, with her Pastor, Paul W. Rankin officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
