Obituary of Sophie M. Shebeck

Mount Pleasant, Sophie M. Zubik Shebeck, age 79 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Sunday (04/21/2013) in the Baptist Personal Care Home, Castle Shannon, PA Mrs. Shebeck was born December 26, 1933 in Connellsville, PA, the daughter of the late Michael and Magdaline Kielar Zubik. She was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church and its Christian Mothers. Sophie was a graduate of the former Scottdale High School. . She was a Telephone Operator for the former Bell Telephone Company. Sophie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a very special lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Sophie is survived by her loving family: her daughters; Dr. Bruce (Jill) Baron of Omaha, NE, and Mrs. Richard (Judith) Kupiec of Moon Township, by her beloved grandchildren; Madison and Jacob Baron, and Nora and Andrew Kupiec, and by her devoted friend, Rita Gyurke of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to her parents, Sophie was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Shebeck in 2007, and by her sisters and brother; Josephine Wasak, Veronica Weber, Anne Liptak, Anastasia Purnell, Cecelia Mlinek, and Michael Zubik. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A Blessing will be held at 9:30 AM Thursday in the funeral home, followed by her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass in St. Pius X R.C. Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Pius X Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 3PM.
