Obituary of Steven Joseph Szabo

Latrobe, Steven Joseph Szabo, age 66 of Latrobe, PA, died Monday (3/25/2013) in UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. Mr. Szabo was born January 11, 1947 in McKeesport, PA, the son of the late Steve and Beatrice Petrovich Szabo. He was a 1964 graduate of the former South Huntingdon High School, attended Penn State University and was a 1968 graduate of the PA State Police Academy. Steve retired from the PA State Police, Emporium Barracks, with over 35 years of service. He had served at various locations of the State Police including the Region 5 Strike Force. Steve was an avid hunter who enjoyed the outdoors. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He had a very special love and devotion for his family and his pet companion "Lil Miss". Steve is survived by his loving family: his wife, Kimberly A. Dokish Szabo, his children; Denise Schreckengost and her husband Chuck of Scottdale, Jayme Szabo of RuffsDale, Alissa Szabo of Tarrs, and Camille Tkach and her husband Joe of Scottdale, and their mother, Carolyn Szabo, and his grandchildren, Nicole (John), Megan (Carl), Elizabeth, Carolann and Josh. Steve is also survived by his brothers, Lawrence Szabo and Patricia of Winnemucca, NE, and Charles Szabo of Smithton, and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm and Thursday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Steve's Funeral Service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with the Rev. David Hixson officiating.
