Obituary of Thomas L. Proud

Mount Pleasant, Thomas L. "Red" Proud, age 85 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Sunday (03/24/13) at his home. Mr. Proud was born October 21, 1927 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Joseph and Bridget Waters Proud. He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. He had attended the former Hurst High School. Red was a proud veteran of WWII who had served in the United States Army. He was a member of the VFW Post 3368 for over 55 years, a life member who served as post commander for more than 10 years. He was a faithful and devoted member of the VFW Honor Guard that served at military funerals throughout the area. Red had worked for the former Modulas Corp. as a bolt maker until his retirement. Red will be missed by all those who had the honor of knowing him. He is survived by his loving family: his wife of 64 years, Celine Marciniak Proud, his sons, George T. Proud and his wife Lynn, and Lawrence T. Proud and his wife Beverly, all of Mt. Pleasant, and by his beloved grandchildren, Erin Proud and Greg Tarbell, and Leah Proud. In addition to his parents, Red was preceded in death by his brother George D. Proud, who was killed in action during WWII, and the following sisters; Harriet Dzambo, Barbara Napoli, Eileen Starenchak, Mary Catherine Santarel and Ursula Lobingier. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Wednesday at 12:00-noon in the funeral home followed by Red's Funeral Mass at 12:30 in St. Pius X RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment with full military rites accorded by the VFW Post 3368 and the American Legion Post 446 will be in the St. Pius X Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
