Obituary of Jack D. Smitley

Mount Pleasant, Jack Darwin Smitley Sr., age 82 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Sunday (3/10/2013) in the Select Specialty Hospital of the Laurel Highlands, Latrobe, PA. Mr. Smitley was born August 19, 1930 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late William and Ethel Whitehair Smitley. He attended the former Hurst High School. Jack served in the PA National Guard, Co. E. He worked as a coal miner for the B & R Mining Company until his retirement. Jack was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving family: his beloved wife of 65 years, Dolores May Smitley, his children; Jack D. Smitley, Jr. and Starr, Jill E. McCloy and Douglas, Jody L. McCloy and James, Jeffrey D. Smitley, James W. Smitley and Melissa, all of Mt. Pleasant, and Jesse A. Smitley and Linda of Charleroi.He will be greatly missed by his twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Jack is also survived by his two sisters, Geneva Booker and Yvonne Demagall, both of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by three infant siblings. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 12-noon until 1:00PM PM, the time of his memorial service, at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev.
