Obituary of George W. Gilpin
Tarrs, George W. Gilpin, age 85 of Tarrs, PA, died Thursday (1/24/13) in Excela Heath- Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, PA.
Mr. Gilpin was born September 3, 1927 in Tarrs, PA, the son of the late George and Verdie Dodson Gilpin. He was a member of the New Stanton United Methodist Church. George served in the United States Army Air Force and was a veteran of WWII. He had been employed by the former Robertshaw Corp. of New Stanton for over 48 years. George was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his loving family: his sons, Greg M. Gilpin of Mt. Pleasant, and Bill P. Gilpin and his wife Jenny of Tarrs, by his beloved grandchildren, Amanda Shotts and her husband David, and Nicki Cunningham, and by his great granddaughter, April Jean Shotts. George is also survived by his sisters, Jean Shaffer and Gail Myers, both of New Stanton, Sylvia Liberty of Hunker, and Judy Gafney of Ohio. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Jean D. Kozer Gilpin in 2001, his brother, Phillip Gilpin and an infant brother William.
Family and friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant.
George's Funeral Service will be held Monday at 10:00 AM in the funeral home, with his Pastor, the Rev. Stephen Bane officiating.
