Obituary of Harry V. Moyemont

Mount Pleasant, Harry V. "Buster" Moyemont, age 84 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Tuesday (1/15/2013) in the Excela Heath- Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, PA. Mr. Moyemont was born May 6, 1928 in Hecla, PA, the son of the late William and Edna Newill Moyemont. He was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Middle Churches, where he had served on the Church Council. Harry served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict completing two campaigns of service, and was the recipient of two bronze stars. Harry was retired from the Elliott Co. where he worked as a machinist for over 47 years. He had also worked as an Auxiliary Policeman for the Mt. Pleasant Area School District and the former 7-Springs Police Department. He drove school bus for many years for the Mt. Pleasant Area School District and also for the Latrobe and Hempfield Districts. Harry was also a member and Motorman with the PA Trolley Museum where he volunteered. He was a member of the American Legion Post 446, the Hecla Sportsman's Club and the Standard Shaft Citizens Club. Harry was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed life and had a smile for everyone. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Harry is survived by his loving family: his wife of 61 years, Ida Mae (Phillabaum) Moyemont, his children; Debra L. (Moyemont) Morris of Greensburg and David B. Moyemont and his wife Denise of Mt. Pleasant, and by his beloved grandchildren, Steven and Rachel Moyemont. In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his step-mother, Madelyn Morgan Moyemont, his son, Robert A. Moyemont in 1966 and by his son-in-law, Bert C. Morris in 1998. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 8 PM and Friday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Funeral Services for Harry will be held Saturday at 11:00AM in the funeral home, with Pastor Robert H. Kruel officiating. Interment with full military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446 will be in the St. John's Union Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Township.
