Obituary of Louis John Farrell

Mount Pleasant, Louis John Farrell, age 96 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Friday (12/28/12) in Walnut Ridge Memory Care Center, Greensburg, PA. Mr. Farrell was born September 26, 1916 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Nicholas and Mary Spina Farrell. He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. Louis was a 1934 graduate of the former Ramsay High School. He was a WWII Veteran who served in the United States Army, Company E. He and his late wife, Ruth E. Smith Farrell were the owners of the former Duncan Hardware Store of Jeannette. After their retirement, Lou worked for the former C & C Builders Supply Company. After retiring from there, he and Ruth enjoyed traveling with the Mount Pleasant Senior Citizens. Mr. and Mrs. Farrell were together from the time he was 16 years of age, only being separated during WWII, and for 27 days this December. Ruth died on December 1, 2012. Lou is survived by his loving family: his children; Louis Nick Farrell of New Stanton, and Mary Lou Farrell Leaf and her husband William of Cary, N.C., by his beloved grandchildren, Terri Koslowski, Tammi Bell, Melissa Kluska and Anthony Masciantonio, and by his ten great-grandchildren and a great great granddaughter. In addition to his parents, and his wife Ruth, Lou was preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Masciantonio, and his brothers and sister; John, Anthony, George, Michael, Frank and Rose Farrell. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Monday at 12:00-Noon in the funeral home followed by his 12:30 PM Funeral Mass in St. Pius X RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Pius X Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Sunday at 3:15PM.
