Obituary of Ruth E. Smith Farrell

Mount Pleasant, Ruth E. Smith Farrell, age 95 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Saturday (12/1/2012) in Walnut Ridge Memory Care, Greensburg, PA. Mrs. Farrell was born July 20, 1917 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the daughter of the late George and Mable Wagner Smith. She was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. Ruth was a graduate of the former Hurst High School. She and her husband Louis were the owners of the former Duncan Hardware Store of Jeannette. After retirement, they enjoyed traveling with the Mt. Pleasant Senior Citizens. Ruth was a kind and gentle lady who will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Ruth is survived by her loving family: her husband of 70 years, Louis J. Farrell, her children; Louis "Nick" Farrell of New Stanton, and Mary Lou Farrell Leaf and her husband William of Cary, NC, and by her beloved grandchildren; Terri Koslowski, Tammi Bell, Melissa Kluska, and Anthony Masciantonio. She will also be greatly missed by her ten great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Ruth is also survived by her sister; Doris Cernuto of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her grandson; Matthew Masciantonio and her three brothers, William, Murl and George Smith. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Monday at 1:00PM in the funeral home followed by her 1:30 PM Funeral Mass in St. Pius X RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Pius X Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A Parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Sunday @3PM.
