Obituary of Josephine G. Saybel Cornell

Mount Pleasant, Josephine G. Saybel Cornell, age 92 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Wednesday (09/26/12) in Excela Health- Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, PA. Mrs. Cornell was born April 10, 1920 in Hecla, PA, the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Blehar Saybel. She was a devoted member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, and had been active in the Rosary Altar Society and the Christian Mothers, where she served as an officer and past president for many years. Josephine retired from Westinghouse in Youngwood, where she had worked as a Laser operator for many years. She was also a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Assoc. (Jednota Lodge), and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She remained an active money counter for the church, and had also delivered meals on wheels in the Mount Pleasant Area. Josephine is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, and her close friends, Chuck and Rose Overly of Mt. Pleasant, who helped to care for her. In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Cornell in 1961, her sisters, Catherine Fignar, Mary Ellen Riley and Elizabeth Moore, and by her brother, Robert Saybel. Family and friends will be received Friday from 1 until 4 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mt. Pleasant. A blessing service will be held on Saturday @9:30AM in the funeral home, followed by her 10:00AM Funeral Mass in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in Visitation Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Friday @3PM followed by a Rosary with Visitation Rosary Altar and Christian Mothers.
