Obituary of Katherine Dorothy Dzubak Foriska

Hecla, Katherine Dorothy Dzubak Foriska, age 82 of Hecla, PA died Monday (09/17/2012 in Select Specialty-Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. Mrs. Foriska was born June 22, 1930 in Hecla, PA, the daughter of the late John and Mary Hostinsky Dzubak. Mrs. Foriska was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church of Mt. Pleasant. She attended the former Hurst High School and then received her GED in Michigan. Dorothy was a Master quilt maker who made beautiful quilts for her entire family and for many of her friends. She was a loving, giving and caring mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Dorothy is survived by her loving family: her children; Katherine Odom and her husband Terrance of Rochester Hills, MI, Ellen Kuntz and her husband Rex of Orlando, FL, by her grandchildren: Christy Parker (Jamie), Carin Slowik, Jason Odom, Jason Markey, Kelly Markey, Ashley Markey, Adrainne Merkling (Justin), and by her great grandchildren: Emma and Abigail Parker, Katherine Markey, and Jamison and Cameron Merkling. She is also survived by her sisters, Ann Nahrbecki of Hecla and Margaret McDowell and her husband Edward of Ligonier, and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander J. "Coach" Foriska in June of 2011, her grandson, Ben Markey, her brothers: Michael, Andrew, Joseph, John, Steve and George, and by her sister. Mary Yothers. Dorothy's family wishes to extend a special "thank you" to her sister-in-law, Kathryn Dzubak and to John "Vince" Penska of Mt. Pleasant. Family and Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Friday at 9:30AM in the funeral home followed by her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Dennis A. Bogusz as celebrant. Interment will be in Visitation Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday in the funeral home.
