Obituary of Dorothy Franko Campbell

Latrobe, Dorothy Franko Campbell, age 90 of Latrobe, PA, died Friday (08/24/12) in the Bethlen Home, Ligonier, PA. Mrs. Campbell was born January 7, 1922 in Latrobe, PA, the daughter of the late James and Regina Fry Franko. She was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church of Latrobe. Dorothy was a graduate of Latrobe High School. She had worked for the Thrift Drug Store and had been manager of the Nancy Shop in Latrobe for many years. She was an avid bowler, and a wonderful baker, and enjoyed sharing her cakes, pies and pastries with her family and her friends. But most of all, she loved to iron. No matter when you stopped to see her, she was ironing something. Dorothy was a loving mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving family: her children; John (Jack) Campbell and his wife Karen of Corpus Christy, TX, and Lynne M. Altman of Latrobe, by her beloved grandchildren: Tracey Strzegowski and David, Terry Campbell and Cindy, Scott Altman and Charlene, Jaime Gianni and Angelo, and by her great grandchildren; Morgan, Aidan, Drea, Jayla, Colt, Gianna and Alyssa. Dorothy is also survived by her sister, Rosemarie Stephenson of Latrobe and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband John W. Campbell in 1982, and by her brothers and sisters; Joseph and James Franko, and Mary McKay and Catherine Siko. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 5 until 8PM at the Hartman-Graziano Funeral Home, 1500 Ligonier Street, Latrobe. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 9:00AM followed by her 9:30 AM Funeral Mass in Holy Family RC Church, Latrobe, with the Very Rev. Daniel C. Mahoney as celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Unity Township. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Bethlen Home and Hospice. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Bethlen Home, 66 Carey School Road, Ligonier, PA 15658, in Memory of Dorothy F. Campbell.
