Obituary of Richard Von Davis

Coconut Creek, FL, CMSGT USAF (retired) Richard Von Davis, age 74 of Coconut Creek, FL, formerly of Scottdale, PA, died Thursday (5/17/2012) in the Northwest Hospital, Margate, FL. Mr. Davis was born January 24, 1938 in Connellsville, PA, the son of the late H. Von and Lena Moran Davis. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Scottdale. He was a 1955 graduate of the former Scottdale High School. Dick served in the United States Air Force from July 5, 1955 until his retirement on July 31, 1981; 26 years/26 days. He was Superintendent of Aircraft Maintenance for 11 years, and Maintenance Scheduling Supervisor for the other 15. He began his military career at Williams AFB, AZ. In 1972, he was assigned to Korat Royal Thai Air Base in Thailand. In 1973, his assignment was changed to the United Kingdom where he was stationed until 1976. He was then assigned to the AFB in Myrtle Beach, SC, where he remained until his retirement in 1981. The two most important things in his life were the Military and his family. Dick is survived by his loving family: his daughter, Judith Ann Connolly of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and by his two sons. He will sadly be missed by his beloved grandchildren, Brittany Connoly, of Coconut Creek, FL and three additional grandchildren, and by his three great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Thomas Ermine, and his cousins; John and Dave Albright, and Regis Moran. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Anne Pauley Davis in 2008, and by his sister Judith Davis Ermine in 2011. Dick's Memorial Service will be held Saturday June 16, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Steve Moore officiating.
