Obituary of Bernard Raymond Mondock

Mount Pleasant, Bernard Raymond Mondock, age 82 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Friday (05/18/2012) in Scottdale Manor & Rehabilitation Center, Scottdale, PA, surrounded by his loving family, after having fought a courageous battle for the last four years. Mr. Mondock was born August 20, 1929 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late John and Anna Mayernik Mondock. He was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church. Bernie was a 1947 graduate of the former Hurst High School, and also graduated from Electrician School in Uniontown. He served proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Bernie worked for over 20 years as a glass blower for the former Bryce Brothers Glass Co, and retired from the Mt. Pleasant Area School District Maintenance Department. Bernie enjoyed riding his quad and golf cart at his camp in Jefferson County. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving family: his wife Margaret A. Haney Mondock, with whom he would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in June of this year, and by his devoted children; Donna J. Smith and her husband Tom of Greensburg, Deborah A. Mondock of Dixon, CA, Barbara L. Conn and her husband Robert, Lori J. Mondock and Jodi, all of Mt. Pleasant.He will be sadly missed by his beloved grandchildren; Thomas Smith and Christy, Steven Smith and Erica, Tonya Fleming, Garrett Lowstetter and Amber, Lindsay Conn and Justin, Shelby Conn, and Taylor Conn, and by his great grandchildren; Zachary, Alex, Drew, Zak and Ryan.Bernie is also survived by his brothers and sister; John Mondock and Mary Shaw, Richard Mondock and Ruth, all of Mt. Pleasant, Ronald Mondock and Carol of Greensburg, and Evelyn DePalma and John of Mt. Pleasant, and his sister-in-law, Elaine Snyder of Scottdale, and by his beloved dog Molly. In addition to his parents, Bernie was preceded in death by his Son, Bernard R. Mondock, Jr. in 1973. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 2 until 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Monday at 9:30AM in the funeral home, followed by his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Dennis A. Bogusz as celebrant. Interment with full military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446 and the V.F.W. Post 3368 will be in the Visitation Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Sunday at 3PM.
