Obituary of Joseph Stephen Leshko, Sr.

Mount Pleasant, Joseph Stephen Leshko, Sr., age 73 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Tuesday (05/15/2012) in Cedar's Community Hospice, Monroeville, PA, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Leshko was born February 7, 1939 in Old Bethany, PA, the son of the late John and Veronica Rushnock Leshko. He was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church of Mt. Pleasant. Joe was a 1957 graduate of the former East Huntingdon High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam Era. He retired as a skilled glass worker with the former L.E. Smith Glass Company, and also had been a lifelong farmer, which was his passion. He was a member of the American Legion Post 446, and the Slovak Club, both of Mount Pleasant. Joe was quick witted, and always had a great sense of humor. He was a loving, and caring husband, father, brother and pappy, who made his family the center of his life. Joe is survived by his loving family: his wife of 45 years, Mary Ann Smith Leshko, his children; Dr. Lee Ann Leshko-Lindsay and her husband David of Mt. Airy, MD, Eileen Livengood and her husband Chuck of RuffsDale, SFC(R) Joseph S. Leshko, Jr. and his wife Cindi of Raeford, NC, and Rick M. Leshko and Frank V. Leshko both of Mt. Pleasant. He will be greatly missed by his beloved grandchildren; Justin and Tyler Livengood, Anna and Nico Lindsay, Joseph S. Leshko, III and Rachel Leshko. Joe is also survived by his brother William Leshko and his wife Theresa of Rocktown, by his sister; Margaret M. Leshko of Mt. Pleasant, and by his father-in-law, Roy J. Smith of Dawson, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, John J. Leshko, Jr., and by his sisters, Mary Moore and Dorothy Verostko. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 PM and Friday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A Blessing service will be held Saturday at 9:30AM in the funeral home followed by his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Dennis A. Bogusz as celebrant. Interment with full Military Rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446 will be in the Visitation Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
