Obituary of Agatha L. Amdy

Mount Pleasant, Agatha L. Sorice Amdy, age 101 of Mount Pleasant PA, died Saturday (03/31/2012) in the Harmon House Convalescent Center, Mount Pleasant, PA. Mrs. Amdy was born February 11, 1911 in Italy, the daughter of the late Sabato and Mary Pantalone Sorice. She was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church and the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society. Mrs. Amdy retired from the former Royers Department Store of Greensburg, and had worked as the Manager of the Western Union Office in Mt. Pleasant for many years. She and her late husband Joseph were the owners of the former Amdy's Religious Store in Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Amdy is survived by her loving family: her daughter; Janet Cole and her husband Ronald of Uniontown, her grandchildren; Kenny Lehman, Susan Dunkard, and Jennifer Pastorius and her great grandchildren, Abigail Dunkard, and Kayla Pastorius. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Ken Lehman of Columbus, GA. In addition to her parents, Agatha was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph P. Amdy, Jr. in 2004, her daughter, Mary Amdy Lehman in 2005 and her brothers and sisters; Anthony, Delphio and Matthew Sorice, Minnie Yanity, Angeline Licelli and Rose Pantalone. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Wednesday in the funeral home at 9:30AM followed by her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass in St. Pius X RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant.
