Obituary of Goldna Elizabeth Coldsmith

Mt. Pleasant, Goldna Elizabeth"Betty" Brown Coldsmith, age 96 of Mt. Pleasant, PA, died Wednesday (2/1/2012) in Hempfield Manor, Greensburg, PA. Mrs. Coldsmith was born November 21, 1915 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of the late Samuel and Gertrude Null Brown. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant. Betty was a1933 graduate of the former Hurst High School. She had worked for many years as a Pharmacy Clerk for the former Gunsallus and Armor Drug Store of Mt.Pleasant. Betty was a member and past president of the Mt. Pleasant Women's Club, and was also a member of the Mt. Pleasant Senior Citizens Center where she and her late husband enjoyed spending their time. Betty is survived by her loving family: her children; John B. Coldsmith and his wife Dee of Pittsburgh, Bonnie B. Downs and Betsy J. McFarland both of Youngwood, by her grandchildren; Richard Downs and his wife Susan, Jennifer Russell and her husband Brett, Rebekah Crawford and her husband Ryan and Christopher Coldsmith and his wife Adrienne, and by her great grandchildren; Madison Downs, Samuel, Jacob, Sophia, Joshua, Matthew and Vivian Russell and Mason and Stella Coldsmith. Betty is also survived by her nieces and nephews; Sally Roche and her husband Jim, Cathy Eichenberger and her husband Joel, Joseph McIntyre and his wife Madeline, and David McIntyre and his wife Janet. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John Truxel Coldsmith in 1990, her son-in-law Howell T. (Mac) McFarland, her sisters, Eleanor and Robert Dietz, Infant Margaret Virginia Brown, and by her sisters-in-law; Sarah C. and William Osterwise and Mary and Joseph McIntyre. Family and friends will be received Friday from 1 until 3 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street Mount Pleasant. Betty's Funeral Service will begin at that time with her pastor, the Rev. J. Tim Hoover Officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
