Obituary of Evelyn J. Kurimcak

Mount Pleasant, Evelyn J. Varholla Kurimcak, age 81 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Monday (01/30/2012) in the East Living Country Estates, Hunker, PA, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Kurimcak was born April 14, 1930 in Mammoth, PA, the daughter of the late John and Ann Bennish Varholla. She was a member of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church of Mt. Pleasant. Evelyn was a 1948 graduate of the former Hurst High School and of the former Westmoreland Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. She worked as a Registered Nurse for Excela-Health Westmoreland Regional Hospital for more than 40 years. She was an excellent baker, and enjoyed Tatting and Crocheting, and sharing her baked goods and crafts with her family and friends. Evelyn was a loving wife, and mother, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Evelyn is survived by her loving family: her children; Karen A. Kurimcak of Mt. Pleasant and Edward Paul Kurimcak and his wife Christine of North Huntingdon, formerly of Scottdale. She is also survived by her sisters; Helen Polakovsky and Mary Ceidro and her husband Michael, all of Mt. Pleasant, her brother and sister in-law; Thomas and Karen Kurimcak of Columbia, SC and by numerous nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by her beloved cats; Lexie, Tiki, Maddie and Tux. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Edward M. Kurimcak in 2007 and by her nephew; Richard A. Ceidro in 1992. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM and Thursday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 9:30AM followed by her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass in Visitation Of The Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in the Visitation Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Thursday @3:00PM. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the care given to their mother by Drs. Tymoczko and Haykin, and the Excela-Heatlh Hospice workers, and a special thanks to the staff of Easy Living Estates for the compassion and care given to their Mom.
