Obituary of Edward Stanley Killar, Sr.

Palm Harbor, FL Edward Stanley Killar, Sr., age 89 of Palm Harbor FL, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday (12/09/2011) in Palm Harbor, FL. Mr. Killar was born March 15, 1922 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Joseph and Mary Kromer Killar. He was a devout Catholic and was a member of the former Transfiguration Parish of Mt. Pleasant, and a current member of St. Michaels Church in Dunedin, FL. Ed was a Veteran of World War II, and served as a Sergeant in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He was an employee of Sears & Roebuck for thirty-five years. Ed belonged to AA for twenty-seven years and was surrounded by their love and support. He was a dedicated gardener and an avid fisherman. Ed is survived by his loving family: his wife, Adelaide (Laddie) Keating Killar, his sons; Edward Killar and Claire, Robert Killar and Tracie all of NY, John Killar and Lynne of CT, Daniel Killar and Andy of CA, and William Killar and Angie of NC, his step daughters; Denise Rohr and George, Colleen Cunningham and Bill , Deborah Kravacy and John all of NY, Patricia Bridgeman and Leo of PA, 25 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Ed is also survived by his brothers; Jay Killar and Walter Killar both of Mt. Pleasant, by his sister, Maryjane Huffman of NY, and by his daughter-in-law, Maureen Killar of NY. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Bruno Killar in 1971, by his son, Richard Killar, and by his brother and sister, Stanley Killar and Elizabeth Lamarca. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ed's friends Henry Swain, Tom Tucker, and Paul Johnson who helped him to accomplish his wishes in the last months of his life by their love and support, and also to his dear friend Carl Keegan, whom Ed enjoyed fishing with. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday April 14, 2012 at 1:00PM in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Eagle and Walnut Streets, Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Inurnment will follow with full military rites in Transfiguration Parish Cemetery, East Huntingdon Township.
