Obituary of Edward J. Frederick

Mount Pleasant, Edward J. Frederick, age 87 of Mount Pleasant PA, died Saturday (12/10/11) at his home. Mr. Frederick was born April 1, 1924 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Ignatius "Harry" and Mary Cibula Frederick. He was a member of the former Transfiguration Parish and a current member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant. Ed was a proud veteran of the United States Army, 11th Airbourne Division during World War II, serving in the campaigns in New Guinea, the Philippines and Luzon. He worked for Oppman Auto parts for many years and then was employed as an Equipment Repairman for the B&O Railroad (Chessie System) in Connellsville. He retired in 1991.Ed then became a familiar face working for the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home for 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 446, where he served as Commander from 1956-1957, the VFW Post 336, the Mount Pleasant Fireman's Club, the Falcons, and the Hecla Sportsman's Club. He was an avid sports fan and loved to golf. He was a true animal lover. Eddie enjoyed being around people; always had a story to tell, and was always one of the first to offer to help. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, uncle and friend. His wonderful smile and his infectious laugh will be remembered forever. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Ed is survived by his loving family, his wife of 65 years, Regina Ludwig Frederick, his daughter, Diane Miller and her husband Bob of Mount Pleasant, and by his son, Gary E. Frederick of Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by his brother, Paul Frederick of Everson, and by his sisters, Regina Poff of Perrysburg, OH and Irene Caletri and her husband Joseph of New Orleans, LA, and by numerous nieces and nephews. "Uncle Ed" will also be sadly missed by the loves of his life, Justin, Patti and Emily Peretti, whom he adored. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brothers John Frederick in 1983 and Robert (Bob) Frederick in 1986. Family and friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 9PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A Blessing service will be held on Tuesday @9:30AM in the Funeral Home followed by his 10AM Funeral Mass in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment with full military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446 and the V.F.W. Post 336 will be in Transfiguration Parish Cemetery, Mount Pleasant. A Parish Wake service will be held at 3PM and the Transfiguration Holy Rosary Society will pray the rosary @6PM both on Monday in the Funeral Home.
