Obituary of Mary Jane Santmyer

Mount Pleasant, Mary Jane Echard Santmyer, age 92 of Mount Pleasant PA, died Monday (11/14/2011) in the Excela Heath- Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, PA. Mrs. Santmyer was born May 27, 1919 in Bridgeport, PA, the daughter of the late Alexander E. and Margaret Spiker Echard. She was a member of the Mount Pleasant Church of God . Mary Jane attended the former Hammonville "Mudd" School and was a 1937 graduate of the former Hurst High School. She was a member of the Dames of Malta, the former Alverton Grange, and the Bullskin Senior Citizens. She enjoyed cooking and baking, playing cards with her card clubs, going to bingo, and she loved to travel. .Mary Jane was a loving mother, and grandmother. She loved everyone, and everyone who knew her loved her. She was a wonderful, caring person. She is survived by her loving family: her son; James P. Santmyer and his wife Diane, her daughter, Mary Jane Reese and her husband Barry, all of Mt. Pleasant, and by her beloved grandchildren; Jeffrey Scott Reese, Jason Paul Santmyer, and Craig Alan Santmyer. In addition to her parents, Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, James Pershing Santmyer on Nov. 13, 1991, her brothers; Lawrence "Jake" Echard, Harry "Herky" Echard, and Alexander E. "Buzz" Echard, and by her sisters; Olive Echard, Lorraine "Tootie" May Anderson, Myrtle Firmstone, Ada Mae Schwab and Beatrice Lessman. Family and friends will be received Friday from Noon until 2PM, the time of her funeral service, at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant, with Pastor Jack W.
