Obituary of Josephine C. Cernuska

Josephine C. “Josie” “Aphine” Nemeth Cernuska, 95, of Mt. Pleasant died peacefully on Thursday December 26, 2024 at RNC Nursing Home in Greensburg, with her beloved son Mark by her side.  Josie was born March 15, 1929 in Mt. Pleasant to the late Joseph and Mary Shea Witek.

Josie was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Trauger and St. John’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Scottdale. She was majorette and graduate of the former Hurst High School.  Josie will be reunited with her beloved late husband Paul John “Neme” Nemeth.  Josie was a humble forgiving faithful mother homemaker and servant of Jesus Christ.  Josie was also a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Josephine is survived by her loving family, her husband of 20 years, John Cernuska; her brother, Edward Witek (Leona) of Irwin; and her children, Paul “Patrick” Nemeth (Susan) of North Huntingdon, Janice Frederick (Terry) of Mt. Pleasant, Mark Nemeth of Hecla, and Colleen Hall (Larry) of Delaware.  Josie is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Jennifer Einfalt (Kirk), Jocelyn Martin-Frederick, Mark Nemeth Jr. (Jennifer), Rachel Young (Hampton), and Anna Hall; by her beloved great-grandchildren, Madeline, Natalie, Nathan, Ava, Mina, Carson, Nyx; and by numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Josie was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Nemeth; and by her siblings, Walter, Joseph, Alice, Helen, and Joanne.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Blessing Service on Monday at 9:15 a.m. in Galone-Caruso Funeral Home Inc., Mt. Pleasant.  The Divine Liturgy will follow at 10:00 a.m. in St. John’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Scottdale, with Rev.
