Obituary of James E. Mason
James E. "Mace" Mason, 83, of Laurelville, "has left the building" on December 12, 2024. Jim was born December 5, 1941 in Connellsville, to the late Francis and Pauline Doppelhauer Mason.
Jim was a graduate of Southmoreland High School, Class of 1960. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, repairing tanks and tracks in Fairbanks, Alaska that were sent back and forth to Vietnam during the war. After returning home, Jim worked most of his life as the sole-proprietor of Hamel's Radiator Service and Mace's Motorcycle Service. He was the original founding member of the Laurelville Sportsmen's Club and their annual Polar Bear Run. He was also co-founder of the Flying Angels Motorcycle Club and a member of the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club, as well as, A.B.A.T.E. of Fayette County.
Jim is survived by his loving family: his wife of 60 years, Judi S. Hamel Mason; his children, Shari Davis, Bill Mason, and James M. Mason (Heidi); his grandchildren, Scott Davis, Isaac Mason (Abby), Alexandra Davis, Madison Yezek (James), and Trevor Mason (Victoria); and by his great-grandchildren, Scott, Xander, Omeika and Bentley Davis, and Aurora Yezek. He is also survived by his siblings, Jean Henderson (George), Susan Danner, Richard Meason, and Paula Morris (Harold); numerous nieces and nephews; and by his faithful pets, Sebastian and Tom. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Wilma Bailey.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, December 21, from 11:00 am until the hour of the Funeral Service at 1:00 pm at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, Inc., Mt. Pleasant.
