Obituary of Kenneth R. Smith

Kenneth R. Smith, 90, of Mt. Pleasant died Saturday December 7, 2024 at Chester County Hospital surrounded by his loving family.  Mr. Smith was born January 26, 1934 in Wyano to the late George and Viola V. Brunner Smith. 

Kenneth was a former member of the New Stanton United Methodist Church.  He retired as a glass worker for Anchor Hocking after many years of service.  Ken enjoyed coaching his son's Mt Pleasant Little League teams and his daughters' s Mt Pleasant Girls softball teams.  He would volunteer his time for the Mt. Pleasant Midget Football League.  He loved baseball, music and spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.

Ken is survived by his loving family, his children, Victoria Gilpin (Keith), Connie Findley (Harry), and Richard K. Smith (Julie); grandchildren, Kayla Gilpin, Christian Thompson (Kerrie), Elizabeth Short, Sarah Short, Jacob Short, Erica Smith, and Derrick Smith; great-grandsons, Kenneth and Axel Thompson; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.  In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Cheryl Dobinsky Smith; and by his siblings, William, Thomas, Esther, Lester, Mildred, Henry, David, Nathan, and Walter.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home Inc., Mt. Pleasant.  Additional viewing will be held in the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of his Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev.
