Obituary of Myra L. Abromson

 

Myra (Barron) Abromson, late of Greensburg died at RedStone Highlands on the 27th day of November, 2024. Myra was the daughter of the late Louis and Bertha Barron. She was born and raised in Connellsville, PA. After graduating from Connellsville High School in 1965, she earned her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from the University of Cincinnati in 1969. She was employed for several years by the Pittsburgh City Board of Education as an elementary school teacher until retiring from teaching to have a family, make a home for them and actively participate in her children’s schooling and extra- curricular activities.

Throughout the years her children were growing up, she was involved in their schools’ functions and parental support organizations. She was President of Hempfield Parents’ Action Committee for a number of terms. She was also an active member of the Frick Hospital Junior Auxiliary and President for multiple terms. As a lawyer’s wife, she was a member of the Westmoreland County Law Wives’ Auxiliary and also President for a number of terms. Myra was also an avid Steeler fan and season ticket holder as well as a Pirate fan from childhood, attending many games and rarely missing a telecast. Myra was married to (and is survived by) Atty. Nathan Abromson, with whom she enjoyed wintering each year in Marco Island, Florida. They were married for 55 years, having met as children, dated as teenagers, and married upon college graduation. She is also survived by a son, Atty. Henry Abromson of Frederick, Maryland, a daughter, Amy Lynn Kaminsky of Downingtown, PA and four grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hillel (Foundation) International or ASPCA.  Services will be held at Galone Caruso Funeral Home Inc. 204 Eagle Street Mt. Pleasant, PA 15666 on Sunday December 1, 2024 at 1 p.m. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service. (Noon-1 p.m.) Burial will immediately follow at B’nai Israel Cemetery Middletown Rd. Greensburg, PA 15601. Shiva at the family’s home following burial. All officiating arrangements by Chabad of Monroeville, funeral arrangements entrusted to ASHLEY D. X.
