Obituary of James H. Griffin III

Lt. Commander James H. Griffin III, 84, U.S. Navy (Ret.) passed away on November 2, 2024 in Richmond, VA.  Jim was born on September 7, 1940 in Latrobe to the late James H. and Barbara Sell Griffin II. 

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his only son, James H. Griffin IV; and his brothers, Ernest and Joseph. 

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Griffin; his siblings and their families, Barbara, Suzanne, Mary, Delia, Margaret, Larry, and Bobby.  Jim is also survived by two grandchildren.

Jim loved the U.S. Navy and was very proud of his service to our country.  He loved God and his family.  Jim was an avid stamp collector, and enjoyed wood working and traveling.

Family and friends will be received on Friday from Noon until the hour of the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home Inc., Mt. Pleasant.  A private interment will follow in Mt.
