Obituary of Eugene Walter Fiedor

Mount Pleasant, Eugene Walter Fiedor, age 79 of Mount Pleasant PA, died Wednesday (10/26/2011), in Excela Heath- Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, PA. Mr. Fiedor was born December 31, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of the late Joseph W. and Blanche Malek Fiedor. He was a member of The Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church of Mt. Pleasant. Eugene graduated from the former East Huntingdon High School, and had been employed as a surveyor for The Dick Corp. for many years. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Fireman's Club. Gene was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving family: his wife of 45 years, Joan M. Helkowsky Fiedor, his daughters; Sandra Strickler and her husband Dan of Yukon, and Jeannine Fiedor of Mt. Pleasant, and his grandson, Alan Eugene Strickler. Gene is also survived by his brothers and sisters; Joseph Fiedor and Chester Fiedor of Mt. Pleasant, Barbara Rudnik and her husband Leo of Scottdale, Stella Webster and her husband Whitey of New Cumberland, W VA, and Bernadette Brownfield and her husband Lester of Latrobe, and his brother -in-law; Robert Helkowsky and his wife Ina of York, Maine, and Kenneth Patterson of Greensburg, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his sisters, Blanche Kubicko in 1995 and Mercedes Patterson in 1997. Family and friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 9PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Saturday @9:30 AM followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in The Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Dennis Bogusz, as celebrant. Interment will follow in The Visitation Parish Cemetery. A Parish wake service will be held at 3 PM and the Transfiguration Holy Rosary Society will pray the rosary at 6PM on Friday in the Funeral Home.
