Obituary of Melissa Lynn Scarpa

Melissa “Lynn” Scarpa, 66, of Greensburg passed away Tuesday August 6, 2024, at her daughter’s residence in Acme, PA, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous three year battle with cancer.  She was born November 21, 1957 in Morgantown, WV to the late James T. Shaffer and the late Norma J. Walker (Lee).

She is survived by her husband, Nick Scarpa.  Also surviving are her loving children, Jeremy Barron, Jean “Nikki” Goodnack, and Susan Connors (Todd); her stepson, Nick Scarpa Jr. (Tina); her grandchildren, Samantha, David, Kylee, Hali, and Alek Barron, Zander, Mason, Bentley, and Alexis Connors, and Louis Barron; her step-granddaughter, Ruthann Scarpa; her four great-grandchildren; her siblings, Rick Shaffer (Terri), James Shaffer (Gladys), Mark Shaffer (Deb), Teresa Davis (Charlie), and Jason Walker; and by numerous nieces and nephews. 

Lynn was Lutheran by faith.  She was a 1975 graduate of Southern High School, Oakland, MD.  She was most recently employed at St. Anne’s Home, Greensburg from which she retired.  Among her many past times, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, spending time at the beach, her German Shepherd “Harley”, and riding motorcycles.
