Thomas Stepansky

Obituary of Thomas S. Stepansky

On June 22, 2024, Thomas Stepansky entered into the gates of heaven.  Tom passed away at Select Specialty Hospital in Latrobe due to complications from pneumonia.  Tom was born February 29, 1940 in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late Leo and Verna Gorecki Stepansky.

He attended Transfiguration grade school and East Huntingdon High School where he excelled in academics.  He started working at a young age delivering newspapers.  Then as he got older he was everyone’s favorite milkman.  Tom also worked at Latrobe Steel and retired from Robertshaw.

In 1961, Tom married Peggy Zaronsky, daughter of Gib and Barb.  Together they raised two daughters, Denise and Dianna.  Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He was a true sportsman.  He loved watching the Steelers, Pirates, and golf, especially with his son-in-law, Lee.  Tom and Lee loved to make ribs together for Sunday family dinners.  He also enjoyed polkas, puzzles, watching the news, jeopardy, and the occasional rodeo.

Tom enjoyed his every Sunday lunch prepared by his niece and nephew, Andrea and Joe, and visiting with the whole McClure crew.  Mostly Tom loved, beyond words, his two granddaughters, Ashlee and Kaylee, and his great granddaughter, Charlee, and his new great-grandson Ace, who Tom nicknamed “Big Ace”.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy; his daughter, Dianna; his dog Mick; his sisters, Cel Lewandowski, and Leona Bilik (Bill); and his brother, John Szczepanski (Marlene).

He is survived by his daughter, Denise Hare and her husband Lee; his granddaughters, Ashlee Hunter (Richie), and Kaylee Belcher (Collin); and his great-grandchildren, Charlee Renee Hunter, and Ace James Belcher.  He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Henry Lewandowski; his nieces and nephews, Joe Lewandowski (Melinda) and their family, Andrea Grindle (Tim), Leanne Phillips (Greg) and their family, Bob Bilik, Bill Bilik and family, Cindy DePrins (Ed) and their family; his lifelong friends, Ray and Kathy Janesko, and John and Isabel Brodak; his special friends, John and Heather McGovern, and Jeremy and Alyssa McNatt and their children; and all his friends at Pop& Brew store.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home Inc., Mt. Pleasant.  A blessing service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church.  Interment in St. Pius X Parish Cemetery will follow.  The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Frick Hospital and Select Specialty Hospital where Tom received the best care from the most wonderful, compassionate workers. Your kindness was much appreciated.  Tom loved when the whole family and friends would get together.  He always said we all need to stay close because family is important.  We will continue his tradition of family.  To leave an online condolence please visit our website at www.galone-carusofuneralhome.com
