Obituary of Melanie Elyse Overly

Mount Pleasant, Melanie Elyse Overly, age 33 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Friday (10/07/11) in the Excela Heath- Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, PA. Miss Overly was born October 30, 1977 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the daughter of Charles and Rose Jankowski Overly of Mt. Pleasant. Melanie was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church and its Rosary Altar Society. She was a 1996 graduate of Geibel Catholic High School and attended Penn State University, Fayette Campus. Melanie was employed as a waitress by Aumer's Restaurant in Mt. Pleasant. She was a member of the Slovak Club Pool League. She loved shooting pool and had recently won a tournament and a trip to Las Vegas. Melanie enjoyed life and cherished her many friends and the time she spent with them, but she especially loved her family and was devoted to them. Melanie is survived by her loving family: her father and mother, her brother, Charles E. "Chuckie" Overly of Mt. Pleasant and by her loving companion, Michael Cujas of Mt. Pleasant. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles: Elizabeth Giannetti, Lisa Stouffer and her husband John, Dennis Jankowski and his wife Pat and Gene Jankowski and by several cousins. She will be greatly missed by her loving and faithful pets, her cats, Kazmir and Jangles, and by her many friends. Melanie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: Charles and Mary Ann Potoka Gelet and Michael Jankowski and her paternal Grandparents; Harry and Gertrude Fox Overly, and by her aunt, Cynthia Jankowski Lowhigh. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 2 until 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Monday @9:30 AM followed by Melanie's Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in the Visitation Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held Sunday @3PM and The Visitation Rosary Altar Society will pray the rosary @3:30PM, both in the funeral home.
