Obituary of Elizabeth J. Forbes

Elizabeth J. “Betty” Forbes, 90, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday February 24, 2024 in Independence Health System-Latrobe Hospital.  Mrs. Forbes was born January 19, 1934 in Mt. Pleasant to the late Nelson and Sarah Waters Nedrow.

Betty was a graduate of Ramsay High School class of 1951.  She was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church and the church choir.  Betty had retired as a ward clerk from Jeannette Hospital after many years.  She enjoyed sewing, baking, and was especially known for her Christmas cookies and pumpkin rolls.

She is survived by her loving family, her sons, Joseph Forbes (Diane), and Jack Forbes (Marilyn); her grandchildren, Nathan Forbes (Sarah), Chelsea Conway (Shawn), and Jason Forbes whom she raised; and her great-grandson, Alexander Forbes.  She is also survived by her siblings, Richard Nedrow (Carol), and Janice Antolik (George).  In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John “Boots” Forbes; and her siblings, Dan Nedrow, JoAnn Mizikar, Lee Ann Lamosek, and Dolores Vissari.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass for Betty on Friday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, 224 Summit St., Mt. Pleasant.  Inurnment will follow in St. Pius X Parish Cemetery.  All arrangements have been entrusted to Galone-Caruso Funeral Home Inc., Mt.
