Our thoughts and prayers to all of John’s loved ones. He was an amazing, kind man to me, my kids and my grandson. I wanted to share this beautiful picture of a loving grandfather in his California home in the 80s.
A grove of trees will be planted in the memory of John and Rudy via the Arbor Day Foundation.
With love,
Debbie and family
P.S. John, give Margot a hug for us.

On behalf of the Craig family, my mom & brother (Debbie and Brandon), I would like to offer our condolences to the family and friends in PA whom we've never met. Out here in California we knew John as "Grandpa John." His wife, Margot, was mother to the man my brother and I knew as a dad for decades. That man, Rudy, was not actually kin to John so it's understandable that he is not mentioned in the obituary. But I think it's important for me to say that Grandpa John did his absolute best to be supportive of Margot's son throughout his life. John was under no obligation to do so, that was just the kind of man he was. A beautiful human being full of kindness and Christian faith. And he was absolutely a loving and wonderful man in the lives of my mom, brother, my son Logan, and I until the day he passed, long after Rudy's relationship with my mom ended. Every Christmas I remember John's amazing homemade cookies, especially the oatmeal caramel chip. Even after he moved back to PA he would send us a batch for many years. We've always kept in touch with each other (although I admit, not as much as I could have), and I'm so grateful that I spoke with him just last month.
So, godspeed, grandpa. I wish I was there to play Amazing Grace on the bagpipes for your service, but I will play it here and think of you. We love you very much and were so blessed to have you in our lives.
We would like to give a very special hug and thank you to Mitzie, who took such good care of him over the past few years.
Love,
Amber, Howard, Logan, Debbie and Brandon
