Obituary of Lance W. Westerlund

Lance W. Westerlund, 69, of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday December 28, 2023 at his residence.  Mr. Westerlund was born August 31, 1954 in McKeesport to the late Harry W. and Helen Markos Westerlund II. 

Lance was a graduate of McKeesport High School class of 1973 and completed the apprenticeship program for Local 66 IUOE.  He worked as heavy equipment operator retiring after 40 years.  Mr. Westerlund was a member of King Solomon's Lodge #346 of Connellsville, and he was a 32^nd degree mason in the Scottish Rite.  He was a member of the SAR General Arthur St. Clair Chapter in Greensburg, the Shriners International, and was a youth advisor for DeMaloy International.  Lance was a loving husband, father, brother, and a very proud and loving grandfather.

Lance is survived by his loving family, his wife, Karen L. Olsen Westerlund; his son, Nolan Westerlund (Alyssa); his grandchildren, Brennen and Savannah Westerlund; his sister, Toody Lundin (Lars); and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Lance was preceded in death by his brothers, Harry W. Westerlund III and Robin G. Westerlund. 

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home Inc., 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant.  A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Joe Wingrove officiating.  Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Kecksburg.
