Obituary of Gregory M. Gilpin

 

Gregory M. Gilpin, 75, passed away Thursday December 7, 2023.  He was born April 14, 1948 at the Mt. Pleasant Hospital.  His parents were the late George and Jean Kozer Gilpin of Tarrs. 

Greg was a 1968 graduate of Southmoreland High School.  He enlisted in the United States Army in 1968 and retired in 1988 after 20 years of service at the rank of master sergeant.  He was stationed in Okinawa, Korea, and numerous Army posts in the United States.  Some of his military duties were working as a drill sergeant and as a hospital diet cook.  After retirement he was employed at Harmon House Care Center from 1988 until 2010 as the housekeeping and laundry supervisor.  Greg enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time at his hunting camp in Elk County. 

Greg is survived by his loving family, his brother, William Gilpin (Jenny); numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews; and by his sweetie, Ellen.

Family and friend are invited on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of his Funeral Service at Noon at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle St. Mt. Pleasant, with Pastor Steve Bane officiating.  Interment with military honors accorded by American Legion Post 446 of Mt. Pleasant will follow in Mt.
