Obituary of Joan Wawrzyniak

Joan L. Wawrzyniak, 92, of Mt. Pleasant died Wednesday November 15, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.  Joan was born March 4, 1931 in Mt. Pleasant to the late Michael and Macy Costabile Roman.

Joan was a graduate of Ramsay High School class of 1949.  Joan was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church.  She was also a member of St. Pius Christian Mothers Society, the Kosciusko Ladies Auxiliary, and the ladies independent bowling league where she was a high average bowler.  Joan enjoyed polka music, especially Mollie B, and going dancing with her late husband John.  Her family was the ceneter of her world and no one ever left her house hungry.

Joan is survived by her loving family, her children, Richard Wawrzyniak (Kathy) of Latrobe, Sandra Wood DiPasquale (John) of Mt. Pleasant, and David Wawrzyniak (Diane) of Mt. Pleasant; and her grandchildren, Beth Terhorst (Dustin) of Latrobe, Andrea O’Neal of Latrobe, Brian Wood (Amber) of Brownsville, Brad Wood of Mt. Pleasant, Stacy DiPasquale of Greensburg, Shane Wawrzyniak (Jaclyn) of Irwin, and Amanda Wiltrout (David) of Mt. Pleasant.  Joan is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Brooks and Josie Terhorst, Macy O’Neal, Charlotte and Violet Wiltrout, and Jace Wawrzyniak; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, John C. Wawrzyniak in 2018; her son-in-law, Rick Wood; and her siblings, Mary Zimmerman, Dominic Roman, and Sam Roman.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the blessing service at 12:30 p.m. at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant.  A funeral mass for Joan will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Mt.
