Obituary of Elsie J. Landy
Elsie Jean Landy of Mount Pleasant, PA was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday October 11, 2023. Her legacy and life of 91 years will forever be remembered as one for a love of family.
Born on March 20, 1932, Elsie was the daughter of late coal miner, Andrew Benedict and Henrietta (Brant)Benedict of New Derry PA. Elsie’s early years culminated with attending school in Latrobe.
Elsie went on to marry her sweetheart, Earl Landy, whom she celebrated 66 years of marriage with until his passing in 2017. Elsie’s greatest roles were that of being a devoted wife and loving mother to her two sons who predeceased her in death, Daniel Landy (Martha) on February 18, 2009 and Jeffrey Landy on May 4, 2023. Elsie also joins her sister, Betty Benedict and brother, Andrew Benedict Jr. (Elizabeth) in eternal peace.
Elsie was a beloved grandmother who leaves behind her many memories, holiday traditions and favorite family recipes to be cherished by her grandchildren Kelsey (Nicolas) Beckas and their children Kyla and Niko; Danielle (Brad) Cohen, and Corey (Veronica) Landy and their children, Isabella, Alex and Joey.
Elsie had a gentle heart and beautiful spirit. She loved watching football, game shows, the Guiding Light; playing cards; attending St. Pius X Church and working in the Amusement Business with her immediate family.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of her blessing service at noon at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. A funeral mass for Elsie will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in St. Pius X Parish Cemetery. On behalf of her father, Elsie’s granddaughter, Kelsey, would like to extend a thank you to Harmon House for Elsie’s extended care.
