Obituary of Genevieve M. Batchko

Genevieve M. “Jenny” Batchko, 93 of Mt. Pleasant passed away Saturday September 23, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.  Jenny was born April 4, 1930 in Mt. Pleasant to the late Valent and Anna Gonda Sikora. 

Jenny was a graduate of East Huntingdon High School class of 1949.  She was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church.  She also was a member of Visitation Christian Mothers Society, the Rosary Altar Society, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.  Jenny will be remembered by many as a waitress at Ultz’s Restaurant for 14 years and as the manager of the Woolworth’s lunch counter for approximately 30 years.  She was an avid bingo player and loved spending time with her family. 

Jenny is survived by her sisters, Eleanor Yezek, and Mercedes Isola; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  In addition to her parents, Jenny was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Batchko, in 1986; and by her siblings, Andrew Sikora, Steven Secorie, Irene Campbell, Evelyn Kemerer, Joseph Sikora, and Theodore Sikora.

At Jenny’s request there will be no viewing.  A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, October 3, 2023, in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m.  A rosary will be recited by Visitation Rosary Altar Society prior to mass at 10:15 a.m.  Interment will take place in Visitation Parish Cemetery.  All arrangements have been entrusted to Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, Mt.
