Obituary of Sarah Smetak

Sarah Sally Smetak, 87, of Mt. Pleasant passed away, Thursday September 21, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.  Sally was born August 27, 1936 in Mt. Pleasant to the late Adam A. and Frances P. Balcerek Domurat.

Sally was a faithful member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant, where she was a member of Christian Mothers Organization, Ministry of Consolation, and the Rosary Altar Society.  She was a graduate of Ramsay High School class of 1954.  She worked as a secretary for Barclays for 4 years, Dr. Lim for 19 years, and part-time at Brown's Candy Kitchen.  Sally enjoyed volunteering with meals on wheels and for her church.  Sally was a woman of strong faith, who loved the Lord and prayed for everyone.

Sally is survived by her loving children, John R. Smetak (Daria), David Smetak, and Linda Lytle; numerous family members, her lifelong friend, Loretta Keefer; and many friends.  In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Smetak in 1997; her brother, John Domurat; her sister, Betty J. Balcerek; and her son-in-law, Terry W. Lytle.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass for Sally on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant.  A rosary will be recited by Visitation Rosary Altar Society at 10:15 a.m. prior to the Funeral Mass.  Inurnment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone that has prayed for Sally.  In Lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made in memory of Sally to Mt. Pleasant Historical Society Catalog Committee, 422 W. Washington St. Mt. Pleasant, PA 15666 or Mt.
