Obituary of Charles W. Potoka

Charles W. "Chuck" Potoka II, 61, of Ruffsdale died Sunday July 2, 2023 surrounded by his loving family in Independence Health Systems- Frick Hospital. Charles was born May 2, 1962 in Mt. Pleasant to Mary Lytle Potoka and the late Charles W. Potoka.

Chuck was a graduate of Southmoreland High School class of 1980. After completing high school he started working for H.W. Gongaware bus lines. Chuck then went on to started his own trucking business, now known as Potoka's Trucking and Repair in Mt. Pleasant. He had such a passion for his business and would always go the extra mile for his customers. He was a lifetime member of the East Huntingdon Fire Department and served as Treasurer for many years. Chuck loved spending time in the Smokey Mountains, watching dirt track racing, canning, spending time with all of his family, especially with his grandkids, and nephews.

In addition to his mother, Chuck is survived by his loving family, his wife, Denise Szabo Potoka; his son, Joshua Potoka; his daughters, Nicole Trout, and Megan Fraicola (Jason); and his grandchildren, Aubrey, Callie, Brantley, and Mason. He is also survived by his brothers, Scott Potoka ( Trina), and Lonnie Potoka (Davina); his nephews, Anthony, Gregory (Maria), Jonathon (Robbie), and Brok Potoka; his great-niece, Lucia; his sister-in-laws, Jayme Szabo, Alissa Szabo, and Camille Tkach, his special cousins, Craig Potoka, Tracy Nicklow and LouAnn Byers; and by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to his father, Chuck was preceded in death by his daughters, Candie and Faith.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home Inc. 204 Eagle St. Mt. Pleasant. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. William Baird officiating. Interment will follow in the Szabo Family Cemetery, South Huntingdon Township.
