Obituary of Sylvia J. Liberty

Sylvia J. Liberty, 85, of Youngwood, formerly of New Stanton, died Thursday October 13, 2022 in Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville.  Mrs. Liberty was born October 21, 1936 in Mt. Pleasant, daughter of the late George and Verdie Dodson Gilpin.

Mrs. Liberty worked as a waitress at Hoss's Restaurant in Greensburg.  She enjoyed square dancing and roller skating.  Sylvia loved going to camp and especially spending time with all her family.

Sylvia is survived by her loving family, her children, Mark McBeth (Debbie), Marlin Liberty Jr. (Lisa), Robert Liberty, and Michelle Edwards (Gregg); her beloved grandchildren, Stacey (Vinny), Nicole, Corey (Will), Chelsea, Jared (Alysia), Justin, Bryan, and Joshua (Kaitie); her eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.  Sylvia is also survived by her sisters, Judy Gaffney and Gail Myers.  In addition to her parents Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin D. Liberty Sr.; and her siblings, Billy, Phillip, and George Gilpin, and Jean Schaffer.

Family and friends are invited on Monday from 6 to 8 PM and on Tuesday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant.  A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 AM with the Rev. Bonnie Lisker, officiating.  Interment will follow in Mt.
