Obituary of Richard P. Aheimer

Ruffs Dale, Richard Aheimer, age 74 of Ruffs Dale, PA, died Tuesday (7/12/2011) at his home. Mr. Aheimer was born August 28, 1936 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of the late Paul and Ruth Hand Aheimer. He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church of Hunker. Richard served in the United States Navy during the Korean Era. He was employed by the former Modulus Corporation. Rich was a Life Member of the Hecla Sportsman's Club and also a member of the American Legion Post 446 of Mt. Pleasant. Rich may have been born in the city, but he was a country boy at heart. He loved spending time outdoors gardening, and in his younger years was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his loving family: his wife of 29 years, Taffie Haines Aheimer, his daughter Ruth Moore of Ruffsdale, his grandchildren; Kacy Aheimer, Shannan Moore and Jagdeesh "Lucy" Kler and his great granddaughter; Kyla Aheimer. Rich is also survived by his brothers and sister; Ronald Aheimer and his wife Joanne of Hampton, VA, Dennis Aheimer and his wife Carol of Farmington and Sandy Aheimer of Hecla, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his sister; Elaine Nagy and by his grandson Korey Aheimer. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 1 to 5 & 6 to 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Funeral Services for Richard will be held at 11:00 AM Friday in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Hunker, PA, with the Rev. David Clement officiating. Interment will be in the Mt.
