Obituary of Genevieve Killar

Mount Pleasant, Genevieve "Gen" Zarycki Killar, age 85 of Mount Pleasant PA, died Wednesday (07/06/11) in Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg, PA. Mrs. Killar was born June 22, 1926 in Mammoth, the daughter of the late Andrew and Rozalia Molek Zarycki. Gen was a member of the former Transfiguration Parish and its Holy Rosary Society and a current member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. She attended the former Hurst High School, and is a member of the Kosciuszko Club Ladies Auxiliary. Gen, more affectionately known as "Nan", was a very kind and gentle woman, and the most wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her loving family: her devoted husband of 65 years, Joseph J. Killar, Jr., her beloved children; Sharlane Firmstone of Greensburg, Kristin Biller and her husband Leo "Corky" of Mechanicsville, VA, Mark J. Killar and Joseph W. Killar and his wife Bonita, all of Mt. Pleasant. Nan will be greatly missed by her grandchildren; Allison White (Tom), Chad Firmstone (Julie), Jillian Biller, Chris Firmstone (Samantha), Neil Biller (Shannon), and by her great grandchildren; Mason, Morgan, Abigail, Ryan, Dylan and Parker. She is also survived by numerous Nieces and Nephews. In addition to her parents, Gen was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters; Frank Zarycki, Michael, Walter and Joseph Fiedor, Alice Fornal, Sophia Markiewicz, Ann Bocian, Bertha Kattera and Rose Marie Busko. Family and friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30AM followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Pius X R C Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko. as celebrant. Interment will be in the Transfiguration Parish Cemetery, Mount Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held Friday @3PM and the Transfiguration Rosary Society will pray the rosary @6PM, both in the Funeral Home.
