Obituary of Marlene R Saloom

Marlene R Saloom, age 85 of Mount Pleasant PA, died Sunday, July 24, 2022 in Excela Heath- Frick Hospital Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Saloom was born July 18, 1937 in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Markiewicz Remiash. Marlene was a member of the former Transfiguration Church. She and her husband Joe operated the Saloom Shoe Center in Mount Pleasant for several years.  Always interested in being on the go, Marlene enjoyed instant lottery tickets, playing her daily lottery numbers, and occasional trips to the casino.  Anyone she was acquainted with knew this brought her laughter and smiles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Saloom, her sister Kathleen Jane and husband John "CoCo" Rusinko. Marlene is survived by her loving nieces and nephew, John Rusinko (Patti), Cindy Gricheck (Tom), Christine Stape (Dennis) and Cheryl Rusinko; and her beloved great nieces and nephew, Jane Webb, Jill Dedene, Lauren, Bryan, Allison Gricheck and Payton Stape.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law Gloria Saloom; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends especially Larry and John.

Marlene's funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday at Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 740 Walnut Street, Mount Pleasant.  A private Interment for her family will be held in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
