Obituary of Albert Dawson
Albert “Alby” Dawson Sr., age 78 of Mount Pleasant PA, died Monday, July 4, 2022 in UPMC Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.
Mr. Dawson was born July 25, 1943 in Hempstead, NY, the son of the late William and Margaret Smith Dawson, Sr. Albert was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary R.C. Church in Mt. Pleasant. He grew up in Brooklyn, attending East New York High School. He resided in the upstairs of a Bakery business where he began working at the young age of 12. He credited this experience for instilling the strong work ethic which he maintained throughout his life. While in New York, he was also a Scout Master. Albert was a baker for Stagno Bakery in Pittsburgh for many years prior to retirement. He was a lover of dogs, hunting and an avid western movie fan. He especially liked John Wayne and the television series Gunsmoke. Alby also savored Italian food. His greatest passion was his grandchildren; they were #1 in his heart as he always treasured time with them.
Mr. Dawson is survived by his loving family, his wife Marie C. Albertini Dawson; his sons, Donald Dawson (Sandi), Albert Dawson Jr. (Kandida-Maria), Brian Dawson (Vicki); and his beloved grandchildren, Justin Patrick, Cody, Sylvia, Killian, and Abigale. Alby is also survived by his sisters Alice Ralph (William) and Susan Nunez (Joseph) and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Joshua Patrick Dawson, his brothers Richard, Frankie, Charles, John, Robert, William Jr., James, Michael, Henry, Joseph, and Peter and sister Margaret Ralph.
Family and friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 8 PM and Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30 AM followed by Albert’s funeral mass at 11 AM in the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary R.C.
